Time for this week’s New Release Friday roundup. Listen to the whole playlist on Spotify and read notes about six of the songs below.

Shuba – “Love Runs Out”

Following her smash hit “Indian Summer“, rapper/singer Shuba is back with another sizzling track. The song is called “Love Runs Out” and is an emotion-driven banger about the dynamics of a relationship. “‘Love runs out’ is like a therapy note I’d write to myself. One of my biggest fears is the moment when you realize the high of a relationship is gone and that all the ‘butterflies’ you had were only based on superficial/ temporary things. It’s a song about reflecting on self worth and how people expect to be treated versus how they sometimes actually get treated in their romantic pursuits,” notes Shuba. The single was released via Snafu Records.

Fae – “Bad Trip”

Rising singer-songwriter Fae has just released “Bad Trip”, her first single of the year. She wrote the song together with Miranda Glory via Zoom. That remote collaboration process encapsulates people’s lives in the last two years and captures the vibe of the song. “Bad Trip” is such a moody piece. “A global pandemic that’s spanned nearly two years; I was praying this song would no longer be relevant by the time it was released, but unfortunately, it seems right on time..,” Fae says about the song. Produced Alex Flagstad, it’s a dark yet upbeat electro pop track.

Bare Jams – “Little Bit”

“Little Bit” is a new song by UK-based collective Bare Jams. The track was released alongside a nice visual made by Michael Ruddlesden. “Little Bit” generally feels sweet and offers a relaxing listen. The groovy, reggae-flavoured track is filled with warm vocals and an intoxicating a brass section. You’ll be dancing along to this!

Acclaimed Norwegian emcee Ivan Ave has shared a new single named “Gear”. The track was produced by Sasac and arrives as the last single from his upcoming EP titled Mid Season. Delivered over a soulful hip hop instrumental, “Gear” is so expressive. Altogether, it exhibits Ivan’s lyrical prowess.
