The first New Releases Friday roundup of 2022 is here. We’ve updated the playlist with new songs from artists such as Hunter Moreau, Lost Blonde, Jamie McDell and Lucky Choice. Below are notes about some of the songs.

Hunter Moreau – “Sleepyhead”

Massachusetts-born singer-songwriter Hunter Moreau is immensely talented. With just a couple of singles, the pop newcomer has showed us why she is one to watch. Now, she releases her third single, “Sleepyhead”. This is a vulnerable and though-provoking piece. “I was trying to capture the idea that your mind can seem like this crazy, scary thing that you can’t control, but it really is something you built yourself, based on your own ways of thinking,” Moreau remarks. In the song, her vocal and lyrical abilities are brought to the fore, indicating an artist ready to capture listeners’ senses with her music.

Felicia Lu – “Dear Karma”

Felicia Lu opens her 2022 chapter with the release of “Dear Karma”, a groovy electro pop track. Accompanied with a visual, this one follows the emerging German artist’s “Anxiety” single. As the singer indicates, “Dear Karma” tells the story of being wronged in the past and taking revenge. “It’s my start to a new era starting in January with a fresh and darker sound, trying to be more unique and personal,” states Felicia. The record is out via Global Rockstar.

Lost Blonde is one of the exciting new artists who announced themselves in 2021. Now, she is continuing where she left as she unveils her third single, “No Matter What”. This is an evocative and galvanizing pop ballad about the resolve to make a relationship work despite the challenges which might be faced. “No Matter What” follows Lost Blonde’s singles “Bulletproof” and “Dreamin’ About You”.

Jamie McDell x Tom Busby – “Poor Boy”

New Zealand singer-songwriter Jamie McDell is gearing up to release her self-titled LP next month. Out now is a new single called “Poor Boy”. Jamie made the song in collaboration with Tom Busby. “Poor Boy” is a tribute to the singer’s father, whom she solemnly appreciates for inspiring her to take risks and follow her dreams. Written from a perspective Jamie imagines her father could have, the America-influenced indie-folk song feels nostalgic and heartwarming.
